NOVEMBER 20, 2013

 Dear Friends:

We want to wish each of you a blessed Thanksgiving.  We thank God for each of you and your prayers and financial support.  We will have Thanksgiving at home with my parents this year.  We are beginning a very busy time of the year with Thanksgiving, Christmas, and special activities in the month of January.  Your prayers are always coveted and appreciated!  God’s blessings never cease.

We praise the Lord that four were recently baptized.  It is exciting to see believers obey the Lord in Scriptural baptism.   The lady in the picture is the mother of the girl on the far right.  She came to us from another area of the country and wanted to serve in our church and I told her that first she had to be baptized in our church since she had been baptized in a church of a different doctrine than ours.  With unusual enthusiasm she said yes!

Sunday the 24th of November is Election Day in Honduras.  They will be voting for their municipal authorities, congress, and for President.  Please pray with us that there will be no fraud, no violence, and that the candidates elected will serve honorably.

The youth in the church are working hard on the Christmas program.  Part of them is doing a play and part is in the choir.  We are excited to see their desire to serve the Lord through this.  The program will be December 22nd.    The first week of January will be our annual week of prayer.  Then we will have Vacation Bible School for the children and young teens.  Once again missionary Miss Gayle Sparks will be helping us.  We thank the Lord for her help.

We ask you to once again begin praying for our annual Youth Camp in April.  To be able to have camp with our youth who come from poor homes, we help them with half of their camp costs.  Please pray that the Lord will provide these extra funds.  That comes out to about $45.00 for each camper.  We are praying for a special offering of $2,500.00 for this camp.  We need to know where we stand so we can plan accordingly.  If you can help, please contact us.

Yours with Hope For Honduras,

Leslie, Alba, Halbert, & Edgar Priday

Dear Pastor and Church:

Thank you so much for your faithful prayers and financial support. We praise the Lord for His Blessings in our family and ministry. In July, our oldest son Steve visited us for two weeks from Fort Worth, Texas. He was able to see most of the family here and even got to go the beach! August 20th, we celebrated our 25th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY. We praise the Lord for His Help, Strength, and Blessings during these years and the wonderful family God has given us, and we look forward to many more years together serving Him!

The first week of September, we held our annual Men’s Conference. Once again, I invited my Father, Missionary Harold Priday to speak for us. A total of seventeen men attended, including six pastors from three cities and two mountain areas of the country, my Dad and I, and our two sons (they are men now!!!). Almost every pastor brought a church leader with him. The theme was VISIONARY LEADERS. This year we did several different things. 1. We held the conference at a local camp. We began Friday with supper and spent the night there. We had to cancel the bonfire due to the rain, but still had a wonderful testimony time inside. We spent the night there and on Saturday continued. 2. My Dad asked Halbert and Edgar to each give a short talk about the importance of a vision and goals in one’s life. Both did a great job and we were very pleased and proud of them!! Thank you for your prayers for this important conference! One of the greatest needs here is for men to be leaders.

September 10th is Children’s Day in Honduras. We celebrated it in the mission in Barrio Abajo the 8th with a special Sunday School dedicated to children. We had a total attendance that day of ninety-one! We had a special message for children, piñatas, gift bags, and a lunch. The church people did a fantastic job of organizing and carrying out the celebration.

We praise the Lord that we have seen several saved in the month of September. This is fruit that abounds to your account and it is our privilege to serve the Lord for you in Honduras. Please continue to pray for us as the Dengue fever is in epidemic proportions here and for financial needs. May God bless you greatly.

Dear Friends and Supporters:

Thank you for your faithful prayers and financial support.   We will soon be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary.  Many of you have prayed for us and supported us that entire time or longer.  It is our privilege to serve the Lord on your behalf in Honduras.

We recently had our celebration of Student’s Day with teens of four different churches.  We had games led by our son Halbert, singing, Bible preaching by two Honduran pastors, and the ladies of our church prepared lunch for them.  A good group attended and they had a great time.  We have these meetings to encourage them in the decisions they made at Youth Camp and to give them the opportunity to have fellowship with other Christians.

Please pray for our annual men’s conference September 6th and 7th.  Once again my Dad, Missionary Harold Priday will be the speaker.  Our theme will be Visionary Leaders.  We will have it overnight this time at the same place where the teens have camp.  This will give them the opportunity to get away from the noise of the rat race and to be more focused on the conference.  We are expecting men from at least seven churches.  One of the greatest needs here is for men to be leaders in their homes and churches.

In the mission work in Barrio Abajo we continue studying the book of Revelation on Sunday nights.  The youth are studying the Sermon on the Mount on Saturdays, Practical Christian Service, and in Sunday School we are finishing a study on Lifestyle Stewardship.  There is much sickness this time of the year, including near epidemic proportions of the dengue fever.  It comes from the bite of a certain type of mosquitoes.  So please pray for our health and the health of the people here.

May 22nd, one of my Mother’s sisters, Carol Frances Clark died and went home to be with the Lord.  I was honored to do the funeral and was in the States 2 weeks.  It was good to see most of my family.  Please pray for all of the family as she is greatly missed.  Please pray for the health of another of my Mom’s sisters, Virginia Cansler.  Right now we are enjoying a two week visit of our son Steve who lives Fort Worth, Texas.   Thank you for your prayers and may the Lord bless you greatly.

Yours with Hope For Honduras,

Leslie and Alba Priday

Dear Co-laborers:

Thank you so much for your faithful prayers and financial support as our co-workers in the ministry in Honduras.

During Easter Week, March 26-30, had our annual Youth Camp. Thank you so much for your prayers. The theme was Acts Not Just Words. We had a better attendance than last year from 3 of the 4 churches that attended. We had 16 campers and 4 adults from our church and my Dad & Mom’s church had 13 campers! We had a total of 41 kids from 13 to 25 years old and 6 counselors. Each cabin of 6 or 7 had devotions before breakfast. We had two classes each morning. I taught the book of James and Pastor Daniel from Tegucigalpa taught on False Doctrines. Each night we had a service with preaching and special music from the churches. A Honduran preacher, Walter preached an evangelistic message the first night. My Dad preached one night on what the Bible teaches about music. It impacted the campers!! The last night Pastor Daniel preached on Christian Commitment and we had the Testimony/Bonfire service. It is always a great blessing to hear the campers talk about what Camp meant for them. Halbert and Edgar directed the games and activities each afternoon. Edgar was also a cabin leader. Alba and I were also cabin leaders. Alba ran the little store, went back and forth buying supplies, and helped me direct the camp. Sunday night, everyone who went to camp gave their testimony about how it was a blessing to them. It excites and blesses me to hear their testimonies how the Lord worked in their hearts and that this year was the best year.

We praise the Lord for our Home Church, Victory Baptist Church of Weatherford, Texas; Eaton Baptist Temple of Eaton, Ohio, and two individuals who sent special offerings in February and March. We even had a lady from our church here that helped pay half of the cost of 6 campers!! However, at this point we have not had enough come in to cover this. We are short $1,000.00 to pay the part with which we help the campers. We need to pay this as soon as possible. . Please pray with us that the Lord will provide these extra funds. If you would like to give financially, please email us or call us at 817-886-0423. That is a Vonage phone that rings in our home here in Honduras. That way we can know how much is coming in.

We praise the Lord that we had 4 baptized in recently. One of them is the son of a faithful lady that we had prayed for a long time. Resurrection Sunday was an exciting and busy day. We had our traditional Sunrise service at 5:00 A.M., Sunday School, and in the evening service we celebrated the Lord’s Supper. We began studying the book of Revelation on Sunday evenings. Thank you for your prayers and may the Lord bless each of you in a special way for working together with us for souls in Honduras.

Dear Prayer Partners:

Thank you so much for your faithful prayers and financial support as our partners in the ministry in Honduras.

During Easter Week, March 26-30, we will have our annual Youth Camp.  Please begin to pray for it even now.  Our goal is that their lives will be spiritually impacted forever!  Please pray for the teachers and preachers, for the youth that they will be receptive to God’s Word, and for the counselors.  Most of our youth are poor and for them to be able to attend we ask for you to help them by paying for half of one’s Camp fee.  We need to raise $40.00 for each camper, about $2000.00.  If you can help, please send your offering to the IBFI designated for Youth Camp by March 15th.   Please notify us if you are able to have a part at lesliepriday@gmail.com or 817-886-0423.

Vacation Bible School in January was a great success.  For the second year, Miss Gayle Sparks, Missionary to Mexico, came to help us have it.  We praise the Lord that we had eighty children registered and fifteen accepted Christ as their Savior.  That made it worth all the hard work!!  We had thirteen teachers and workers for four classes!  Each year more teens and adults get involved, praise the Lord!!

We had a great LADIES CONFERENCE February 21 to 23.  Alba always does a great job leading and organizing the conference. Our speaker this year was my mother, Lena Priday.  The Lord used her to touch the hearts of the ladies as she spoke on the theme of Ester, A Brave Servant.  The ladies were blessed and encouraged.  We had thirty women attend.  The majority of the women in our churches are single mothers.

Thank you for your prayers and may the Lord bless each of you in a special way for working together with us for souls in Honduras.

Dear Prayer Partners:

We trust that each of you had a wonderful Christmas and that the New Year is blessed.  We spent Christmas Day with Leslie’s parents and had a big dinner.  New Year’s Day we had a big dinner at home with some of Alba’s family.   Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve we were at home, eating tamales and torrejas, drinking pineapple punch,  and shooting firecrackers.  Thank you for your prayers and financial support.

Praise the Lord for His blessings in the ministry.  We had several special activities in December.  The month began with a Youth Rally hosted by our church.  Sixty teens from four churches attended.  Two pastors preached, we had music specials, and Halbert led in games.  Thank you for your prayers.

What started out as a one afternoon workers workshop grew into us gathering four different times, training workers for the church and for special activities like Vacation Bible School and Youth Camp.  Praise the Lord for a good group coming for these training times.

We also had a watch night service the 14th instead of the 31st!  We had twenty-four from our church and 3 men from another mission from 7:00 p.m. till breakfast at 7:00 a.m.  We had a moving Christian movie, three preachers speak, special music, refreshments, the bonfire testimony time lasted from 12 to 4 a.m., and Bible games in between.  The Lord spoke to hearts and it was a blessing to all those present.

Please pray for our Ladies Conference, February 21 to 23.  Our speaker this year will be my mother, Lena Priday.  Pray for her as she speaks, for Alba as she leads it, for the ladies from our area and others nationally that they will come and the Lord will speak to their hearts.

During Easter Week, we will have our annual Youth Camp.  Please begin to pray for it even now.  Most of our youth are poor and for them to be able to attend we ask for you to help them by paying for half of one’s Camp fee.  We need to raise $40.00 for each camper, about $2000.00.  If you can help, please send your offering to the IBFI designated for Youth Camp by March 10th.

Thank you for your prayers and may the Lord bless each of you in a special way for your partnership with us for souls in Honduras.
