Dear Pastor and Church:

Your prayers have been greatly needed and appreciated the last few weeks. Alba’s mother became severely ill Sunday afternoon, November 29th. With the help of one of Alba’s brothers, we rushed her to the hospital. The next morning she became worse and was put into ICU. Monday night, November 30, she passed away about 8:55 p.m. She was buried on Wednesday December 2nd. We praise the Lord that Steve was able to get a flight down and could be with the family for a week. Our church had a service at the wake and a short service at her burial. I preached both times. To those who sent flowers, cards, emails, and called us, thank you very much for helping us during this time. We thank our Home Church, Victory Baptist Church of Weatherford, Texas for a special offering to help us with these expenses. We praise the Lord that she had accepted Christ as her Saviour so we know we will see her again soon in Heaven. In 2009, my Grandpa died, Alba’s sister-in-law, my great aunt, and Alba’s mother, and other friends. Truly, Heaven becomes dearer to us each year.

We thank those who prayed for the elections here on November 29th. The elections were the smoothest, most transparent, and with biggest turnout in history. There was no violence, praise the Lord. This little country has stood up against the pressures from the U.S. and the socialist countries around the world. The new President will be sworn in January 27th. The deposed President is still hiding in the Brazilian Embassy of Honduras.

The Christmas Cantata was a great blessing and success. Because the missionary wife who organized it had a family emergency and had to miss a month of practice, they asked Halbert to direct it. Although he had no training or experience directing, he did an excellent job!! Edgar ran the sound system. We are very proud of them. It was an exciting service. The attendance was 112!!

The New Year kicked off with a special church dinner on Sunday night January 3rd. The 10th through the 14th we had our annual Week of Prayer with special messages on prayer and a prayer meeting each night. It was a great blessing. Please pray for the upcoming Ladies Conference, February 18 – 20. Mrs. Martha Johnson from our home church will be teaching again. Please pray for us as we organize it, for Mrs. Johnson as she teaches, and for my Mother as she translates.

We are also busy planning our Youth Camp that will be March 30th – April 1st. The cost per person is US$48.00. We want to help the teens to be able to come by raising half of the cost for them. If you could help, please send an offering to us in care of the IBFI mission office designated for YOUTH CAMP. Your investment in these lives will bring eternal dividends!!

Please continue to pray for our health and for our financial situation. We praise the Lord for a special offering from Faith Baptist Church in Artesia, New Mexico. Thank you again for your prayers and financial support. May the Lord bless you greatly.

Yours with Hope For Honduras,

The Leslie & Alba Priday and Sons

Dear Prayer Partners:

The last six months, the political situation here has been unstable. But we praise the Lord that calm has come to the country, politically. Now, there are only occasional protests by those supporting the deposed President. Most of the people have left the Brazilian Embassy where he has been since September. He recently signed an agreement with the current government, but has not upheld any part of it, except for naming his representative to the agreement’s Verification Committee. All plans are set for general elections on November 29th. However, the Leftist sectors withdrew from the process. There are fears that there may be violence around the time of the elections and as the results become known. Please continue to pray for the situation here and for the elections. Crime and violence are very high. Please pray for God’s protection over us and the country in general. The son of one of our faithful men was kidnapped and murdered with his boss in the month of August. One of my parents’ neighbors was murdered in the robbery of their pharmacy. We have had people coming to minister from the States choose to cancel their trips and some missionaries have left Honduras because of the violence and political situation. Yet, we remain, because, truly, this nation needs Christ.

We were privileged to do the church wedding of a couple that has been saved in the Bible studies we are having in another area of the city. Please pray for Carlos and Brenda as they strive to get their lives right before the Lord. Earlier this year, they lost their first baby. Three have been saved in these Bible studies!

Several in our church are practicing a Christmas Cantata with members of another fundamental Baptist church. They are excited because this is the first time that they sing in a choir. The missionaries’ wife directing them had to make an emergency trip to the States, so Halbert has been directing them. They say that he has done a good job! Three churches will join together for a special Christmas service December 20th. Please pray that it will honor God and that we may see souls saved as a result.

Alba has been very sick the last week with a sinus infection. Please pray for Alba. Also, please pray for our financial situation. We count it a privilege to serve here as your missionaries in Honduras. Due to the bad economy, several churches have lowered or discontinued our monthly support. Please pray that the Lord will continue to provide so that we may continue ministering in Honduras. We very much appreciate your prayers and support. During this time of Thanksgiving, we thank the Lord for each of you. We hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. May God bless you greatly.

Yours with Hope For Honduras,

Dear Pastor and Church:

We praise the Lord for your prayer and financial support. The last several months have been filled with tension in Honduras as the political situation is still unstable. The situation had improved, but with the return of the former President this week, it has worsened. Truly our time is short to do the work the Father has given us.

We praise the Lord for Halbert’s graduation from high school. We held a special supper for him with our family to celebrate and presented him his diploma. Please pray for him as he begins a new phase in his life. He has started college online. He is a big help in the church and working with the youth and the music.

In the month of August, the work in Barrio Abajo started a special evangelization program. Every week, we divided into groups and each one would make at least four visits. We praise the Lord that we had 15 saved as a result of the visitation. We had a special service with seventy-five present and presented a video called The Tribulation. Please pray that the Lord will continue to burden our people for lost souls.

Last week, I was privileged to preach a Bible conference in a church in Tegucigalpa, the capital city. I preached seven times in three days. The first day we had 160 present. We gave out 120 certificates of participation. It was exciting to see how the Lord is working with this Honduran pastor and church.

Thank you again for your prayers and financial support. It is our privilege to be your missionaries in the country of Honduras. May God bless you greatly.

Yours with Hope for Honduras,

Dear Prayer Partners:

We thank you so much for your prayers. Honduras has been in a political crisis since the month of May. I am sure that you have seen in the news that the President was arrested due to accusations of drug trafficking, treason, corruption, and violating the Honduran Constitution. He was taken to Costa Rica for his own safety, and from there has launched a campaign to be reinstated as President. His greatest supporters are Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez, Nicaragua’s Daniel Ortega, Cuba’s Fidel Castro, and Bolivia’s Evo Morales. In spite of all the clear evidence against him, the international community and even the Land of the Free and Brave, the Defender of Freedom and Democracy, the U.S. has turned it’s back on Honduras. Please pray for this nation as it tries to withstand pressure from every direction. As help and social, health, and educational programs are canceled, the economy here sinks. If you could urge your Congressmen and women, the White House, and the State Department to support the new government, it would be a great help.
But above all, please pray for Honduras, the “little country that could!”

Because we live 2 hours away from the capital city, we have been only slightly affected in our daily lives. The greatest inconvenience for us has been in traveling because the former President’s supporters have been blocking bridges and highways. But we praise the Lord that there has not been any violence in our area. There have been no shortages and no massacres in Honduras. We have had to cancel two church services due to the curfew. But our schedule is back to normal now.

In June, we had a special Youth Rally with teens from several areas of the country. It was a great blessing. A Honduran preacher from another part of Honduras preached. In spite of the rain ruining our outside activities, we had a great afternoon. We hope to impact the lives of these youth to serve the Lord.

Please pray for the church in Barrio Abajo. We have a new program the month of August called 4 x 4, putting the church in 4 wheel drive. During 4 weeks, 4 teams of 4 people each will visit 4 different homes. Our goal is to reach 64 new families in the month of August. Please pray for this special outreach and that we may see many souls saved as a result.

We also ask you to pray for Alba’s mother, Beatriz. Today is her 86th birthday. She is suffering severely from arthritis and can barely walk. This is very discouraging for her. Thank you for your faithful prayers and financial support. We are honored to represent you in Honduras.

Yours with Hope for Honduras,
Leslie & Alba Priday and Sons

Dear Colaborers:

Much has happened in the last two months!! I hope we can fit it in here. We praise the Lord for His wonderful blessings, even in the midst of trials. What doesn’t fit, you can read about on our web site: www.lesliepriday.com.

GRANDPA’S HOMEGOING

After a long illness, my Dad’s father, Loyd Priday, passed away on February 10th. He was 90 years old. Due to the Women’s Conference, we were not able to attend the funeral. That was hard. We miss him very much. He had been in a special home for Alzheimer and memory patients over a year. Please pray for my Grandma, my Dad, my aunt, uncle, cousins and the rest of the family. We look forward to being with him in Heaven soon, where he will again know who we are. We thank those who sent emails, cards, and called us. May God bless you.

A DYNAMITE YOUTH CAMP!

THANK YOU FOR PRAYING FOR YOUTH CAMP! Your prayers were answered! Camp was Easter week from Tuesday to Saturday. We had an attendance of 38 plus 2 teachers who didn’t stay at camp. We praise the Lord that two teen aged boys were saved, including one of Alba’s nephews. The theme was IN HIS STEPS. Class topics were The Will of God, In His Steps of Holiness, and the book of Philippians. We had youth from five different churches from three areas of the country. The speakers were missionaries Rev. Harold Priday, Rev. Mike Adams and I and two Honduran pastors. Halbert and Edgar were a great help in preparing the literature, promotion, computer work for the classes, singing, and games. Alba was a great help to me in directing everything. We ended very tired, but thankful for the great results and decisions that were made. We especially thank each of you who sent special offerings to help pay for the expenses of the camp. The kids are very appreciative.

A MEAN MEN’S CONFERENCE

Last week we held our first Men’s Conference. I was not sure what to expect, but we praise the Lord for His hand moving among us, again! We had 20 men attend from several different churches of different areas of the country. My Dad, Rev. Harold Priday did an excellent job teaching six classes Thursday and Friday nights and Saturday afternoon along the theme of MEN OF VALOR. He taught about the moral and spiritual battles men face. Each man received his own booklet. Included in the group were five pastors! Some were able to see the video FIREPROOF Saturday morning. We are excited to think about the reach that these classes could have around the country of Honduras.

GLORIOUS BAPTISMS

Praise the Lord I was privileged to baptize five yesterday, two adults and three teens. We had been praying for one since 1997! She comes from a strong Catholic family in a strong Catholic city who opposed her baptism. But, yesterday she was baptized with 2 of her children. One of the teens has wanted to be baptized for a long time, but her parents had not given her permission. We sang VICTORY IN JESUS as Satan was defeated in their obedience to the Lord in baptism. Thank you so much for your prayers and financial support that with God’s grace have enabled us to witness first hand these VICTORIES IN JESUS!! You may see pictures of each of these special activities on our website. May God bless you greatly as we continue to labor together for Him and for souls.

Yours with Hope for Honduras,

March 23, 2009

Dear Pastor and Church:

Thank you for your prayers and financial support. We praise the Lord for His help and blessings since we last wrote you. Much has happened in the recent weeks. The fruit the Lord has given us is also your fruit as have prayed for us and given financially.

Our first Women’s conference was a great blessing. We prayed for 50 ladies and the Lord gave us 53 from Western, Northern, and Central Honduras, from 11 different churches. Broken homes, divorces, widows, battered women, sexually abused women, abandoned women, every problem of which you could think multiplied by many instances was represented. Alba directed it and my Mom translated for the speaker. We praise the Lord for Martha & Johnny Johnson and Kathy Young of the CARE CRISIS MINISTRY out of our Home Church who came for this conference. Mrs. Johnson did a fantastic job as the speaker, teacher, and counselor. She did a great job singing for us in all of the services. We had sessions Thursday and Friday night and Saturday morning. The women were richly blessed and encouraged and we are already planning one for 2010. Bro. Johnny also preached several times for us. While they were here we had a baptism service at a river about 35 minutes from here so we had our Sunday services there and everyone took their lunch. I was privileged to baptize four.

Right before the conference, Pastor Edwin resigned from the mission church, Calvary Baptist Church. Please pray for this work. God continues blessing, though. Praise the Lord that the people are remaining faithful. In the new work in Las Flores, there has been sickness and two ladies have had serious surgeries. We are looking for a place to rent where we can have Sunday School classes also. We have outgrown the family’s living room where we meet.

During Easter Week, April 7th to 11th, we will be having Youth Camp. Please be in special prayer for this very important time in the lives of our youth. Several churches will participate. Please pray for the speakers. Also, pray for those who need help financially to attend. Camp costs $43.00 per youth, a huge sacrifice for people here. We are trying to raise enough money to cut that price in half. If you would like to help, please send it to us in care of the Mission Agency address below and designate it for YOUTH CAMP. Please email us if you are able to help so we can include that in our budget. Our email address is: lesliepriday@gmail.com.

The last two weeks we have been blessed with the visit of our oldest son Steve. We were able to take a few days and travel to the coast and to the Mayan Indian ruins. Please pray for him as he returns to Texas. May the Lord bless each of you in a special way. Thank you for being a part of our ministry here.

Yours with Hope For Honduras,
Leslie, Alba, Halbert, & Edgar Priday

Dear Pastor,

As you well know, the coming of our Lord is “at the door” and we are running out of time to do the great work of missions. Honduras is a wide-open field and people are receptive to the Gospel. Leslie and Alba Priday and their two sons are working hard and seeing fruit to the glory of God.

I am writing in hopes that you might prayerfully consider having a part in this work. Their DVD presentation is among the best a and will challenge your people for missions. Leslie is faithful, trustworthy and hard-working. I have been his pastor for 15 years and have visited them on the field on severaol ccasions.

Leslie is also a good communicator and understands the importance of staying “connected” to his supporting churches. I have pastored for over 33 years and know the difficulty in making decisions regarding missionaries and support, The Leslie Priday family are worthy of any
consideration you might give them.

If you need any further information, PLEASE do not hesitate to call me at 817-594-7421 at any time.

God bless you as you lead your church forward in this great work of reaching the world with the Gospel.

Respectfully and Sincerely Yours,

Dr. Charles W. Wetherbee
Pastor
