Dear Prayer Partners:
We thank you so much for your prayers. Honduras has been in a political crisis since the month of May. I am sure that you have seen in the news that the President was arrested due to accusations of drug trafficking, treason, corruption, and violating the Honduran Constitution. He was taken to Costa Rica for his own safety, and from there has launched a campaign to be reinstated as President. His greatest supporters are Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez, Nicaragua’s Daniel Ortega, Cuba’s Fidel Castro, and Bolivia’s Evo Morales. In spite of all the clear evidence against him, the international community and even the Land of the Free and Brave, the Defender of Freedom and Democracy, the U.S. has turned it’s back on Honduras. Please pray for this nation as it tries to withstand pressure from every direction. As help and social, health, and educational programs are canceled, the economy here sinks. If you could urge your Congressmen and women, the White House, and the State Department to support the new government, it would be a great help.
But above all, please pray for Honduras, the “little country that could!”
Because we live 2 hours away from the capital city, we have been only slightly affected in our daily lives. The greatest inconvenience for us has been in traveling because the former President’s supporters have been blocking bridges and highways. But we praise the Lord that there has not been any violence in our area. There have been no shortages and no massacres in Honduras. We have had to cancel two church services due to the curfew. But our schedule is back to normal now.
In June, we had a special Youth Rally with teens from several areas of the country. It was a great blessing. A Honduran preacher from another part of Honduras preached. In spite of the rain ruining our outside activities, we had a great afternoon. We hope to impact the lives of these youth to serve the Lord.
Please pray for the church in Barrio Abajo. We have a new program the month of August called 4 x 4, putting the church in 4 wheel drive. During 4 weeks, 4 teams of 4 people each will visit 4 different homes. Our goal is to reach 64 new families in the month of August. Please pray for this special outreach and that we may see many souls saved as a result.
We also ask you to pray for Alba’s mother, Beatriz. Today is her 86th birthday. She is suffering severely from arthritis and can barely walk. This is very discouraging for her. Thank you for your faithful prayers and financial support. We are honored to represent you in Honduras.
Yours with Hope for Honduras,
Leslie & Alba Priday and Sons
