Arrival in Honduras

August 13, 2008

Dear Family & Friends,

Praise the Lord I am writing from Honduras! We arrived last Wednesday, the 6th. We had a few complications with our suitcases with Continental Airlines.
They did not allow us to pay for one over weight suitcase and did not allow us to pay extra for the boys’ guitars. So we had to leave a suitcase and one guitar in Texas.
Other than that, we had no problems on the trip. Everything went very smoothly. We arrived on time. Praise the Lord nothing was lost nor stolen. My parents picked us up at the airport and we made the two and a half hour drive to where we live in Siguatepeque, Central Honduras We found all fine at our house, for which we thank the Lord. The plants, flowers and trees have all grown very much. Thank you for your prayers for our trip and for things here while we were in the States.

Honduras is beautiful this time of the year. We are in the rainy season and everything is so green! It is quite a contrast from Texas and the Western U.S. It has been great to be with my parents and Alba’s family, too. It was exciting to go to church Sunday and see the people of the church. Sunday night they had a special welcome service for us. They gave Alba flowers and had a dinner for us. We had a great time of fellowship. I have already had 2 different churches ask me to preach for them in special meetings.

Please pray about our container shipment. The shipping company mistakenly shipped it here without the proper papers from U.S. Customs. So now they have to ship it back to the States, reprocess the papers, and then send it back here again. Please pray that all this will be done quickly and correctly without a lot of red tape. It was supposed to leave Texas for here the 15th, but it won’t leave here to go back to Texas until the 17th.

Please note that we now have a new email address: lesliepriday@gmail.com. This is effective immediately.
Also, we have a Vonage phone with a Texas phone number, so if you want to call us, it will be like calling Fort Worth, Texas. The number is 8 1 7 - 8 8 6 - 0 4 2 3.
Our regular Honduras phone number is 011-504-773-1530, the fax number is 011-504-773-1531 and Leslie’s cell number is 011-504-9996-1109.
Our mailing address is:
Apartado 99

We look forward to hearing from you! Be sure to visit our web page, we will try to update it regularly. It is www.lesliepriday.com.

Thank you again for your prayers. May God bless each of you in a special way. We appreciate you so very much. We consider it a privilege to be your representatives in Honduras.

Update

Dear Family & Friends,

Wow, it has been awhile since I have had time to send out an email update. We certainly appreciate your prayers. Let me tell you what has been going on.

We had a great 2 weeks in Oregon. On our way, we spent a few days in Durango, Colorado with an aunt on my Mom’s side of the family. Then we visited the Mark Haynes missionary family on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona and visited 3 churches there. From there we spent a couple of days with Liz Smith (Winkler) near Prescott, Arizona and her 9 adopted children. We finally made it to Oregon. We spent a few days with my Grandma. Her health is much better, but at 85, she still has some health problems. We drove 3 hours to Portland to the home where my Grandpa is and celebrated his 90th birthday! We praise the Lord that he was having a good day and we had a good time with him. We also spent a few days with one of my Mom’s brothers and his wife, Harold and Lyla. They hosted the 50th wedding anniversary luncheon of my Mom’s oldest brother, Leroy. It was great to see some cousins that I hadn’t seen for a long time. We got to visit my Dad’s brother and his wife, Raymond and Elaine, also. It was great to see our family there, but sad to have to say goodbye, realizing that age and health may take them into eternity anytime. We were able to visit the aunt that had a fall on Mother’s Day from which she resulted paralyzed, Marie Duncan. We appreciate your prayers for her. She is in good spirits. She cannot talk and can only move her lips and eyes. She is on a respirator. She will hopefully be able to go home in a couple of weeks.

We are so excited that tomorrow we are going home to Honduras. We are in a hotel tonight near the airport. We have to be at the airport at 4:30 A.M. As my uncle said, that’s before breakfast! We fly to Houston and change planes and then at 9:00 leave for HONDURAS. We arrive there at 12:00 Texas time. Last week, immigration there was on strike, so prayerfully they will be working tomorrow. When we get out of the airport we will have a 2 ½ hour trip home to Siguatepeque. My Dad will pick us up at the airport. We are anxious to finally see my parents Alba’s family and get to our house and sleep in our own beds tomorrow night!

Tonight we had supper with Steve and some friends that brought us over here to this hotel. It was sad to say goodbye to Steve. Please pray for him. It will be lonely for him.

Please pray for us as we travel that everything will go smoothly and that we won’t lose anything and that nothing will be stolen out of our suitcases.
Also, pray for the shipping of the container. There seems to have been some complications on the boarding of the ship. Will keep you posted.

Thank you for your prayers and may God bless you.

In Christ,
